LIMPOPO Case Study: Atmospheric Online Store for Hair, Home, and Perfume Products
We developed LIMPOPO, an online store that takes shoppers to Africa, to the Limpopo River, while keeping the focus on buying hair, home, and perfume products. A sandy beige base with blue and orange accents, brand characters, and animal icons create the atmosphere, while a multi-level catalog with filters, delivery, online payment, and a personal account cover the full purchase cycle. Development took 25 working days.
Context and Task
LIMPOPO is an online store for hair, home, and perfume products, named after the African Limpopo River.
The task was not simple: create an online store that reflects the atmosphere of the Limpopo River and Africa without pulling attention away from shopping. Buyers should feel the character of the brand and still find and order the right product without effort.
What We Took into Account When Designing
A store with a strong atmosphere can easily turn into a beautiful showcase where it is hard to buy. We built four principles into the structure.
Atmosphere that does not get in the way of buying. Decorative elements support the brand but do not distract from choosing a product.
A recognizable character. Characters and animal icons make the store memorable among ordinary online stores.
Easy choice. A multi-level catalog that branches by category, with filters, helps shoppers find products quickly across different groups: hair, home, and perfume.
A complete shopping path. From the catalog to delivery, payment, and order history, everything happens inside one store.
Solution
Style. The main color is sandy beige. The accents are blue (water) and a muted orange used for all target buttons, so the shopper’s eye always finds the action.
Characters. On the banner, a friendly cartoon hippo seller stands behind a counter of products and greets the shopper.
Icons and visual elements. The cart is designed as a suitcase, while categories and blocks are marked with subtle single-color outline animals that immerse shoppers in the atmosphere without overloading the page.
Catalog and purchase. A multi-level catalog that branches by category with advanced filters, delivery, online payment, and a personal account with order history.
Under the Hood
The store covers the full purchase cycle: the buyer picks a product through the multi-level catalog and filters, arranges delivery, pays for the order online, and sees order history in a personal account.
The structure is designed to keep the buyer focused on purchasing and not on decoration: characters and icons live around the products but never block the path to the order button.
Result
- An online store in an African style: sandy beige with blue and orange accents
- Brand characters (the hippo seller), animal icons, and a suitcase-shaped cart
- A multi-level catalog that branches by category with advanced filters
- A full purchase cycle: delivery, online payment, and a personal account with order history
- Development time: 25 working days

On average 25 working days (about 5 weeks) including design. The LIMPOPO project took 25 working days.
The design should support product choice, not compete with it. In LIMPOPO, color, characters, and icons create the atmosphere, while the accent color is reserved for target buttons, so the path to purchase stays clear.
A multi-level catalog with filters, a cart, delivery, online payment, and a personal account with order history. All of these are in the LIMPOPO store.
